Bad news, unfortunately. Our contractor in Australia has been working slower and slower, and it looks like we may need to put the work out to bid again. It appears they underbid, and have put it on the “back burner” to do other work. The current rate of progress is not going to result in a finish before the next Mac OS release.
The construction industry has done a good job of getting estimating systems (including ours) that create accurate fixed-price bids in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately software programming is not there yet. Time-wise, this project is about the size of a typical kitchen remodel, but programming is a world with no established K&B remodelers or estimating software.
Worst case scenario is that we’ll need to pay significantly more, or it will take longer than expected.
While waiting for the Pro programming, we have been working on our side project, SmartKnives. It’s the only online source for retired and vintage Leatherman tools and Swiss Army knives. The new website is just about done, and will start generating cash flow next month. If need be, that will help pay for more expensive programmers for Goldenseal Pro.
To be continued…
