Goldenseal is bidding software for construction contractors and anyone else who needs to assemble or track competitive bids.

If you give bids or price quotes to others, Goldenseal helps you to assemble an accurate bid very quickly. You can "build" your project estimates from any of the following components:

• Allowances-- fixed price estimates for items that don't have firm specifications.
• Assemblies-- unit costs that include labor, materials and other components.
• Bids-- price quotes that you get from suppliers or subcontractors.
• Cost Items-- unit costs for labor, materials or subcontracted items.
• Percentage Additions-- "soft cost" additions for contingencies, overhead, profit and other items.
• Purchase Orders-- material price quotes.
• Unlisted Items-- any costs that aren't covered by one of the other bid items.

The Goldenseal bidding software includes many tools that help create fast accurate cost estimates-- including smart dimensions (which calculate quantities for you), templates (which let you start out with most of the items you need for each bid) and automatic price updating (your estimates will always use the latest purchase pricing).

Goldenseal also helps you to track competitive bidding from your suppliers and subcontractors. To enter bids, follow these steps:

1. Choose Bids from the Income menu.
2. Click the New button.
3. Enter a supplier or subcontractor, and the amount of the bid.
4. You can type in a brief description of the bid, or use a breakdown to itemize its components.
5. If the bid competes with another bid, enter it into the Competes With field.
6. Hit the Enter key to save the bidding record.
