Goldenseal is project estimates software that gives fast, accurate cost estimates for home builders and others who manage large projects. Goldenseal uses unit costs to simplify the estimating process. You'll probably build most estimate from a list of assemblies, which are unit costs which include the labor hours and material components for a piece of work. You can also enter unlisted items to cover unusual details that aren't covered by an existing assembly, and percentage amounts to cover profit, contingencies, overhead and other "soft" costs. You can print each estimate in several different formats using the Print Forms command, or see a detailed breakdown with one of the Estimates reports. For example, the category breakdown shows you total amounts for each cost category, which is a good way to double check your estimate against "rule of thumb" figures. After you finish project estimates, Goldenseal uses them to print client proposals, bills of materials, tool lists and a labor breakdown. It also uses estimate specifications to generate contracts, spec sheets or subcontracts for the project.
