Goldenseal is a computer software program that gives lumber
takeoffs
for home builders, remodelers, and lumber yards that provide detailed
estimates for their clients. It's part of an integrated package that
also includes accounting, cost estimates, project
management and general business management features.
Goldenseal makes it easy to get a list of lumber and
other materials for a building project. Just do the following:
- Choose Estimates from the Income menu.
- Click the Template button (the little triangle
next to the New button), and select a template for the type
of construction on the project.
- Choose Estimate Dimensions from the Options menu,
and choose Basic Dimensions (or click the blueprint button on the
Estimate screen).
- Enter wall lengths, floor areas, ceiling heights and a few other measurements.
- Click OK.
- Hit the Update Quantities button, and Goldenseal will fill in quantities for each construction
item.
- Enter the customer name and other info if you
want, then hit the Enter key to save the Estimate.
- Choose Estimates from the Reports menu, and choose Bill of Materials from the submenu.
- Enter the estimate you just created,
and click the Update button. You'll see a list of lumber
and other materials needed for the project.
- You can also use Bill of Materials by Item to get a material breakdown for each task in the
estimate.
