Goldenseal is construction job costs software that tracks expenses for any number of construction projects. If offers detailed tracking for all types of job costs, with "estimated vs actual" reporting so you can quickly see the current status of each construction job.

You can enter job costs into Goldenseal as soon as you have a purchase order, delivery ticket or other confirmation of pricing. That lets you speed up your billing, and get a more accurate picture of current expenses.

To see a quick snapshot of construction project job costs, follow these steps:

1. Choose Job Costs from the Costs menu. You'll see a "snapshot" view of cost info for each active project.
2. To see more details, double-click on a project.
3. You can use the Details field at the bottom of the window to set the details that appear. You can view a breakdown by cost category and then "drill down" through subcategories until you see a list of specific cost items. Or you can see specific items immediately.
4. When you use a Progress breakdown, you can enter an estimate of current completion for each category. Goldenseal will then calculate an estimate of final project costs, so you can see how well the job is going when compared to the original estimate.

To see an "estimated versus actual" breakdown of job costs, choose Projects from the Reports menu, and choose Costs by Category or one of the other similar reports.
