Checking Contract Details

NOTE-- In 2000 we retired the MacNail construction software package. Goldenseal is the successor-- it's a complete software package for Macintosh and Windows that handles contract writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, In Goldenseal, you can set up multiple Contract Packages that have boilerplate language for different types of work.

Adjusting for Local Conditions

The contracts created by the MacNail construction management software are only as accurate as the information you give it. To protect yourself, it's very important to double-check each contract you create, to make sure you really want to sign it!

WARNING: Before you begin to use the legal language included in our header and footer files, check it with your legal counsel. Laws vary from state to state, and your lawyer can probably suggest changes that will make Spec Writer better suited for state and local conditions, and the type of work you do.

The construction descriptions included with Spec Writer should also be checked carefully before using them in actual contracts. Construction methods vary from region to region (and for different types of construction), so you may need to make a few changes to better describe the type of work you do.

HINT: To create a list of all clauses so it's easier to check them in the MacNail project management software, see page 122.
