Contract Error Messages

NOTE-- In 2000 we retired the MacNail construction software package. Goldenseal is the successor-- it's a complete software package for Macintosh and Windows that handles contract writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, Unlike MacNail, you won't get error messages in the contract text when you use Goldenseal.

Checking for Error Messages

If Spec Writer has problems while creating Specifications, it will include an error message in the contract text.

All error messages include two number signs (##), so you can use the Find command (see page 80 or 88) to look for ##.

The following are error messages that may be found in a contract created with the MacNail construction management software:

##BAD QUANTITY##-- the item quantity is not a valid number.
##CODE # NOT FOUND## -- no item with a code number matching the item's was found in the Clauses file.
NOTE: If an item's code number is blank or not a number, it will simply be skipped, and no error message will be given.
##BAD NAME## -- the item name is not legitimate text.
##BAD CLAUSE ADD'N## -- the clause addition in the Clauses file was not legitimate text.
##[clause extra] NOT FOUND## -- the clause extra in the Clauses file could not be found in the list of valid clause extras (see page 135).
