Contract Clause Options

NOTE-- MacNail construction software was retired in 2000. and replaced with Goldenseal-- which handles construction spec writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, This manual is still online, as a courtesy to die-hard MacNail users! Goldenseal contracts are similar to the ones produced by MacNail Specwriter.

Clause Options

To control how Spec Writer handles the text in Specification clauses, choose Clause Options from the Options menu.

The Spell out quantities option controls whether clauses will have quantities spelled out in words, when the MacNail construction management software creates a contract.

* If you choose Always, every clause that contains a quantity will have it spelled out. For example, the text might read "Contractor will fill 115 (one hundred fifteen) holes in the wall."
* If you choose Only when Flagged, the quantity will be spelled out only when the item is flagged with an S in the flag column of the Clauses file.
* If you choose Never, no quantities will be spelled out, and the text would simply read "Contractor will fill 115 holes in the wall."
The Approximate quantities option controls whether approximate quantities will be used.
* If you choose Always, each clause that contains a quantity will have the word 'approximately' added before it. For example, the clause might read "Contractor will fill approximately 115 holes in the wall."
* If you choose Only when Flagged, an approximate quantity will be used only if the item is flagged with an X in the flag column of the Clauses file.
* If you choose Never, no approximations will be used, and the text would simply read "Contractor will fill 115 holes in the wall."
