Contract Allowance Options

NOTE-- MacNail construction software was retired in 2000. and replaced with Goldenseal-- which handles construction spec writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, This manual is still online, as a courtesy to die-hard MacNail users! In Goldenseal, you can get detailed specifications or contracts from a project Allowance.

Setting Basic Contract Options

Before you create a contract with MacNail project management software, check over the different options that Spec Writer provides, to be sure that the contract will turn out the way you want.

Allowance Options

To control how Spec Writer handles allowances and costs for each clause, choose Allowance Options from the Options menu.

Enter a markup percentage for Labor and Material. This percentage is added to each cost listed in the contract (allowances, approximate costs and exact costs) to cover overhead, profit and other 'soft' costs. Use whatever markup percentage you normally use when figuring your estimates or time-and-materials projects via the MacNail construction management software.

EXAMPLES: To use the actual cost of the items without including any markup, enter 0 (zero) into the boxes. To increase all costs by 25%, enter either 25% or .25 into the boxes.
