Contract Wording

NOTE-- We retired MacNail Spec Writer and the rest of the MacNail construction software, back in 2000. It has been replaced with Goldenseal, a complete software package for Macintosh and Windows that handles contract writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, Goldenseal contracts are very similar to the ones produced by MacNail Spec Writer, and they are much easier to set up and use.

Other Wording for Contracts

The MacNail construction management software also allows you to change the basic text used in various other parts of contract clauses.

To change these other wordings, follow these steps:
1. Choose Other Wording from the Options menu.
2. Type in the new text you'd like to use, then click OK.

The different wording items are used as follows:

Contractor text-- If you choose 'contractor/subcontractor' as the name to use in Clause Options (see page 44), this is the actual text that will be used in contracts.

HINT: You may want to change 'Contractor' to 'the Contractor' or 'the contractor'. If you do that, remove the 'the' in the clause wording for phrase types 2 and 3 (see page 141).

Subcontractor text-- If you choose 'contractor/subcontractor' as the name to use in Clause Options (see page 44), this is the actual text that will be used in subcontracts.

HINT: You may want to change 'Subcontractor' to 'the Subcontractor' or 'the subcontractor'. If you do that, remove the 'the' in the clause wording for phrase types 2 and 3 (see page 141).
