Including Allowances in a Contract

NOTE-- We retired MacNail Spec Writer and the MacNail construction software 2000. It has been replaced with Goldenseal, an integrated software program for Macintosh and Windows that handles contract writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, Goldenseal can "drill down" when it creates a contract, and get specifications from an allowance breakdown.

Including Allowances in the Contract

If you have flagged allowance items in an estimate or a Clauses file from the MacNail project management software, and want to include them as allowances in the contract, follow these steps:

1. Choose Allowance Options from the Options menu.
2. Turn on the Use Allowances flagged in Estimate option to include allowances flagged in the estimate or other source file. Turn on the Use Allowances flagged in Clauses file option to include allowances flagged in the Clauses file.
NOTE: For more about Allowance Options, see page 40.
3. Click OK.
4. Make the contract as usual.

If you turn off the Use Allowances flagged in Estimate option, items flagged as allowances in an estimate will be ignored.

If you turn off the Use Allowances flagged in Clauses file option, items flagged as allowances in the Clauses file will be ignored.
