Creating Punch Lists

NOTE-- We retired MacNail back in 2000 or 2001, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction management software. Like MacNail,we developed Goldenseal for builders, remodelers and other small project-based businesses. Goldenseal is now a fully mature stand-alone program that handles accounting, construction estimating, and project management, plus simple construction scheduling. Goldenseal is a great tool for creating construction punch lists for your building projects, to help you to track down and fix problems before they become more expensive to resolve.

Making Punch Lists

A punch list is a "to do" list for a specific construction subcontractor or employee classification. It may be for a specific job, or for several different projects. By making frequent punch lists, you can make your workers aware of problems that need correcting, before it gets expensive to fix them.

To get a painter punch list from the a reminder list:
1. Choose *Punch Lists from the Data menu.
2. Choose the crew members or subcontractors for which you'd like to make a punch list. For this example, we will put a check only next to the painter.
3. If the desired file is already the active file (in front), choose active file. Otherwise, choose one file, then select the reminder list to use as a source.
4. All items in the Reminder List that have "Painter" (or anything starting with "Pa") in the Who? column of the Reminder List will be extracted (see page 58).
5. The punch list will be saved as Painter Punch List, or if you are including dates in report file names (see page 96), as Painter Punch List 12/1/90.
