Copying Estimator Line Items

NOTE-- We retired MacNail estimating software in 2000, and replaced it with the Goldenseal construction estimating program. There are still quite a few MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated business software program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing features. Estimating in Goldenseal is much improved over MacNail!

Copy Estimating Line Items (Continued)

To copy estimator line items when memory is low, follow these steps:

11. Activate the temporary worksheet you created in step 1. To do that, you can choose it from the bottom of the Window menu.
12. Scroll to the rows that you'd like to move to the destination worksheet, and drag the mouse through them. Be sure to select all the worksheet columns-- the selection will be 11 columns wide.
13. Choose Copy from the Edit menu.
14. Bring the destination estimating worksheet to the front by choosing its name from the bottom of the Window menu.
15. Click on the upper left corner of where the new item(s) should appear, then choose Paste from the Edit menu.
NOTE: If you are asked whether to 'use the existing definition of' some items, click OK for each of them.
16. To paste more items, repeat steps 10 to 15.
17. Once you've copied and pasted all desired items, activate the destination estimating worksheet, then choose Protect Document from the Options menu.
18. Choose Save from the File menu to permanently save the changes you have made.
19. If you want to move the same items to another estimating worksheet, close the current estimating worksheet, open a new one, and repeat steps 8 to 18.
20. When you are finished, close the temporary worksheet that you created in step 1, and don't save changes.
