Using Subcontracts

NOTE-- We retired MacNail computer software for construction back in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal. This "third generation" program runs on Macintosh and Windows, and is an integrated construction business program that includes construction spec writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, We keep the MacNail manuals online as a service to die-hard users. You can also use Goldenseal to create subcontracts for your suppliers and subcontractors.

Using Contracts When Subcontracting

If you are acting as a subcontractor for part of the work in a project, use the MacNail construction management software to write Contracts or Spec Sheets to clarify your relationship with the General Contractor.

Depending on the situation, your contract may serve as the only contract with the General Contractor, it may be combined with language created by the General Contractor, or it may serve as a supplement or addendum to the General Contractor's contract form.

NOTE: A spec sheet is simply a contract or subcontract that includes no headers, footers or stock clauses.
