Moving Contract Text in Excel

NOTE-- We retired MacNail Spec Writer and the rest of the MacNail construction software, back in 2000. At that time we replaced it with Goldenseal, a complete software package for Macintosh and Windows that handles contract writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, These manuals are still online as a courtesy to die-hard MacNail users.

Using Excel to Move Contract Text

To move contract text from one place to another in a spreadsheet document, follow these steps:

1. Select the cells you'd like to move. For best results, select whole rows.
HINT: To select whole rows, click on the row headings at far left. If they are not visible, choose Display from the Options menu, and turn on Row and Column Headings.
2. Choose Cut from the Edit menu.
3. Click on the spot where you'd like the text to be inserted. If you selected an entire row in step 1, click on a row number.
4. Choose Insert Paste from the Edit menu.

WARNING: Do not move text in the Clauses file or in other non-contract files, since you may accidentally disrupt formulas or defined names on the worksheets.
