Hardware Requirements

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail construction software back in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal, which is a complete, integrated business software package for Macintosh and Windows. Goldenseal handles construction spec writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, It runs on any computer produced since 1995 or so.

Macintosh Requirements

Before beginning with Spec Writer, make sure you have the correct hardware and software to run it.

* Computer hardware: the MacNail project management software will run on any Macintosh. If you have a very old (pre-1987) 128K or 512K machine, you will need to upgrade it to a Mac Plus before you can use Spec Writer.
* RAM: Depending on your computer type and System version, you will need a minimum of two to five megabytes of RAM (random-access memory) to run Spec Writer. Contact our Technical Support staff for help in determining your exact RAM requirements.
