Importing Construction Clauses

NOTE-- We retired MacNail in 2000. and replaced it with Goldenseal-- a complete software package for construction and small business, that runs on Macintosh and Windows computers. Goldenseal includes construction spec writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, You can also import clauses into Goldenseal.

Importing Clauses

If you've added new Specifications to an estimate or estimator in the MacNail construction estimating software, you can also import all of the new items into the Clauses file for use by the MacNail construction management software.

To do so, follow these steps:

1. Choose Import Specs from the File menu.
2. Click on the type of file you want to import from, then click OK. You can use an estimate or estimator, a Price Master (from Customizing), a spec sheet (from BidMagic) or another Clauses file.
NOTE: If the active document is a valid source file, you'll also have the choice of importing from This File-- all Items or This File-- selected rows. The latter option allows you to import just some Specs, if you highlight them first.
3. You'll be asked to choose a source file. Select a file, then click OK.
4. If you are using more than one Clauses file, you'll be asked which file to import into. If you are using just one Clauses file, the items will automatically be imported into Spec Writer Clauses file.
5. Any items in the source file that are not already in the Clauses file will be added to the end of the Clauses file. They will be given a code number and an item name, as listed in the source file.
NOTE: If you import from another Clauses file, all the information there will be imported.
6. Type in the remaining clause information for each new item (see page 114).
