Using Excel for Contracts

NOTE-- Goldenseal software for construction companies replaced MacNail, back in 2000. It handles construction spec writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, This manual is still online, as a courtesy to die-hard MacNail users! You could open contracts created by Goldenseal in Excel or another spreadsheet program, but it's usually much better to do it with a word processor.

Formatting with Excel

If you created a contract in the MacNail construction management software and saved it in spreadsheet format, you can use Microsoft Excel to change its wording and format its text.

Finding Text

To find any text in a contract in spreadsheet format, follow these steps:

1. Choose Find from the Formula menu.
2. Type in the text you'd like to find, look in Formulas, look at Part, and look by either Rows or Columns.
3. Click OK.
4. The cell containing that text will be selected.
5. Repeat steps 1 and 3 to find additional instances of the same text.
