Construction Clause Random Phrasing

NOTE-- In 2000 we retired MacNail Spec Writer and the rest of the MacNail construction software package. Goldenseal replaced them-- it's a complete software package for Macintosh and Windows that handles contract writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, Goldenseal does not have an option to create random phrases, but it's also much easier to set up.

Random Phrase

Phrase type #7 will choose a random phrase type, selecting randomly from one of the six previous possibilities.

NOTE: If a random phrase is used as the default phrase (see page 45), all six phrase types are used. Repeating phrases will use the maximum number of repeats. Otherwise, only non-repeating phrase types are used.

Checking Phrase Types

To make sure a contract clause reads correctly in the MacNail construction management software, follow these steps:

1. Click anywhere in the row you'd like to check.
2. Click on the Item Name column heading, or choose Show this Clause from the Specs menu.
3. The phrase will be displayed, and any potential problems will be listed.
4. To see the next phrase in the list, click the Next button. To see the previous phrase in the list, click the Previous button. To change the phrase type, click the Phrase button. To change the flags used on the item, click the Flags button.
5. When you are finished looking at clauses, click Done.

If the phrase doesn't sound correct, you can change the wording so it sounds right in all phrase types, or use the O  flag, so only phrase type #1 is used (see page 140).
