Folder Navigation |
NOTE-- In 2000 we retired the MacNail construction software package. Goldenseal is the successor-- it's a complete software package for Macintosh and Windows that handles contract writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, Unlike MacNail, Goldenseal stores all company information in a single file, so you won't spend so much time managing computer files. Locating Contract Files Before opening a contract (or other file) with your word processor, it is sometimes necessary to 'navigate' to the correct folder on your hard drive. The Macintosh File Finder dialog or the Windows File Navigator dialog allows you to do this. You'll see it whenever you choose the Open or Save As commands. HINT: If you are working in Spec Writer itself, you usually won't have to worry about navigating, since menu commands in the MacNail project management software automatically take you to the correct location. To move inside a folder that is listed in the dialog box, first click on the folder, then click the Open button. HINT: You can also double-click on the folder name. To move outside a folder to the main hard drive (or to an exterior folder), follow these steps: 1. Click the mouse on the name of the current
folder (near the top of the dialog). A box will 'pop
up' to show you the entire hierarchy of folders inside of which the current folder is located. To switch to a different hard or floppy drive, click the Drive or Desktop button. |
