Square Foot Clauses

NOTE-- We retired MacNail in 2000. and replaced it with Goldenseal-- a complete software package for construction and small business, that runs on Macintosh and Windows computers. Goldenseal includes construction spec writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, It uses a similar system for creating clauses for construction contracts.

Coining a Phrase-- as Square Feet

You can also create a contract clause that uses square feet or some other measurement. If you want the clause to read:

Painter will varnish 7,000 square feet of postage stamps on existing walls.

Then you'll enter the phrase as follows:

Who-- Painter
Verb-- varnish
Noun-- QTY square foot
HINT: Spec Writer will automatically figure feet as the plural of foot (see page 131).

Coining a Phrase -- no Quantity

Some contract clauses will not use a quantity at all. For example, to create the following clause in the MacNail construction management software:

Plumber will remove all bats from the bathtubs.

You'll enter it as follows:

Who-- Plumber
Verb-- remove
Noun-- all bats
NOTE: In this case, QTY is not used, so the noun will not be pluralized by Spec Writer. Just type in the text as you want it to appear.
