Construction Contract Headers & Footers

NOTE-- We retired MacNail Spec Writer and the rest of the MacNail construction software, back in 2000. It has been replaced with Goldenseal, a complete software package for Macintosh and Windows that handles contract writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, In Goldeneseal, you'll create Contract records, which may contain any text that you'd like to include in the header, body or footer of the document.

Working with Contract Headers and Footers

It's easy to create new header and footer files to use in future contracts created in the MacNail construction management software. You can create as many header and footer files as you need.

Headers or footers can contain the entire contract text for a particular type of project. If that is the case, you'll have a different header or footer for each type of project that you do. When you make a new contract, you'll choose just one header and/or one footer for each contract.

You can also create specialized headers or footers that contain just one contract clause, or just one group of clauses. When you create a contract, you'll then assemble it from each of the headers and/or footers that apply.

You may want to create separate header or footer files to cover any of the following situations:

* Different types of projects (remodeling, new construction, fire restoration, historic rehab).
* Different qualities of work.
* Different sizes of projects.
* Different localities with different legal requirements.
* Government work versus individual clients.
* Commercial versus residential work.
* Mention of special situations such as performance bonds, equal-opportunity employment or minority subcontractor notices.
* Any other special contract language that only applies to some projects.
