Scheduling Options |
NOTE-- We retired MacNail back in 2000 or 2001, right after we introduced Goldenseal construction business software. Like MacNail, Goldenseal is built for home builders, remodelers and other project-based businesses. It's is "run your whole business" software that creates simple construction schedules, and also handles your accounting, construction estimating, and project management needs. Scheduling Options The *Scheduling Options command lets you set default numbers for various scheduling functions. It will only affect new schedules made with the *New Schedule command in the MacNail project management software. Lead Times Type in the required lead times, in days, for each item that needs advance ordering. For example, if it usually takes four weeks for your window orders to arrive, type 28 into the Ordering Windows box. The lead times in this box will be added to the estimate whenever you use the *Add Lead Times command (see page 81). Default Crew Size Enter the number of skilled and unskilled workers to be used as the default when you make a new schedule. If your normal crew consists of three carpenters and two laborers, type in 3 and 2 respectively. Week Length Enter the average number of hours in a work week. In most cases, this number will be 40, but you may need to increase or decrease it because of special conditions. To change the week length on an existing schedule in the MacNail construction scheduling software, choose *Crew Size from the Formula menu (see page 82). Scheduling Date Computation Method The running date column on a schedule can be computed using either the average or the maximum of the skilled and unskilled crew days (columns C and D). This option determines which method will be used on new schedules. To change the date computation method of any items on an existing schedule, choose *Time Formulas from the Formula menu (see page 83). |
