Project Punch Lists |
NOTE-- We replaced the entire MacNail software package with Goldenseal construction management software, back in 2000. Like MacNail, Goldenseal helps remodelers, construction contractors, and other project-based businesses to do accounting, construction estimating, and project management, plus simple construction project scheduling. There is a very good construction punch list tracking system built into Goldenseal, which is particularly useful if you have a wireless network on your jobsites. Construction Project Punch List Basics A punch list is a report that you make from any of the reminder lists in the MacNail construction scheduling software. It will show all work that needs to be done by one particular subcontractor or employee group. Punch lists are very useful in maintaining job site quality-- it is usually much less expensive to fix a problem early on in its career! By making frequent punch lists, you can reduce call-backs, and increase client satisfaction. To create punch lists, choose *Punch Lists from the Data menu. You will be asked which reminder lists to use as a source, and which subcontractors/employees should receive a punch list (see page 93). The creation of punch lists may take several minutes, depending on how many files are included in the MacNail project management software. Once the punch list has been created, you may want to print two copies of it-- one for the person involved, and one for the job foreman or superintendent. You can print a third copy for your own use, or refer to the punch list file directly on the computer. WARNING: When a punch list is created, it writes over previous punch lists of the same name without warning you. If you want to keep a punch list, use the Save As command to give it a different name. Once punch list work is reported as "done" by either your superintendent or the person involved, you can remove the items from the original Job Reminder List using either *Delete Rows or *Delete/Double-Check. You can also work directly with punch lists, if desired. Nearly all the commands that work on Job Reminder Lists also work on punch lists. You can add, clear and delete rows, and you can sort or extract from the list of punch list items just as you would from a reminder list. |
