NOTE-- We
retired MacNail in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction
software. Goldenseal is designed for builders, remodelers and other
small businesses, providing accounting, construction
estimating, and project
management, plus simple project scheduling. Each Goldenseal Estimate
includes a simple time-line schedule, which calculates
automatically from the labor hours stored in each construction
Assembly.
Fixed Construction Dates-- As a Formula
If a particular
schedule item cannot be started until a fixed date in the MacNail
project management software:
1. Click on the item that has a fixed date.
2. Choose *Add Rows Here from the Edit menu.
3. Click in the start date cell for the new row, and type in the fixed starting date. You may want
to label it as "earliest start" in column A.
4. Click in the start date cell immediately below the new row.
5. Type =MAX( . Note that the old formula in the formula bar is replaced by what you are typing.
6. Click on the start date cell in the new row that you just added. Its cell address will be added
to the cell formula: which should now look something like =MAX(B34.
7. Type a comma, then click in the start date cell immediately above the new row, then type a close parenthesis.
The formula bar should now read something like =MAX(B34,B33).
8. Type the Enter key, or click the mouse on the check just to the left of the formula bar.
9. The formula you just created in the MacNail construction scheduling software will now put the fixed date
into the schedule, unless prior work will start even later than the fixed date. |
