NOTE-- We
retired MacNail construction software in 2000, and replaced
it with Goldenseal construction
management software. Goldenseal is a complete computer software package
for builders and remodelers, providing accounting, estimating,
and project management features,
plus simple 'time line' project
schedules.
You can export schedules out of Goldenseal and into FastTrack Schedule Software
(the only one of the three original Macintosh scheduling
programs that still exists).
Export to FastTrack Scheduling Software FastTrack Schedule is a "straight
line" scheduling program. Although it doesn't have the sophistication
of MacProject II, it creates excellent Gantt (time-line) charts that will help you to organize your projects
very quickly. The charts will be arranged by work category, with subcategories for each actual
construction task.
To export a schedule from the MacNail construction scheduling software into the FastTrack
project management software:
1. Create a schedule
in MacNail Scheduling, using the *New Schedule command. You can use either a MacNail estimate, or
a project list.
2. Set up the schedule with all desired project information. For crew size, you should use the total
number of workers that will be in the building while the given work is being done-- unless items are being done
in parallel (see page 84).
3. Use *Add rows to add any project delays or additional work. Use *Parallel Work, if desired, to
delineate major pieces of work that are done in parallel. Set a delay factor, add specific delays
or fixed dates, and
adjust the time formulas if desired.
4. When you are satisfied that the schedule dates are fairly accurate, you are ready to begin the actual
export.
5. Choose *Export Schedule from the Data menu.
6. Click on the FastTrack button, then click OK.
7. If a schedule is currently the active document (in front), it will be used to make the export. If a schedule
is not active, then you will be asked to choose which schedule to use as a source.
8. MacNail will take anywhere between 1 and 5 minutes to process the schedule-- depending on the number
of items in the schedule, and the speed of your computer.
9. The file will be automatically saved under the project name. If you exported the Smith Schedule, the export
file will be called Smith FastTrack Export. It will be saved in the Scheduling Reports folder. |
