Customizing Construction Blanks

NOTE-- We retired MacNail construction software in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction scheduling software. Goldenseal is a complete computer software package for builders and remodelers, providing accounting, estimating, and project management features, plus simple 'time line' project schedules. It provides simple time-line schedules that are more accurate than MacNail schedules, since they account for working hours and holidays.

Custom Construction Scheduling Blanks

MacProject's import command is quite sensitive-- everything must be exactly correct for it to work properly. For that reason, we recommend that you do not try to modify the MacNail Construction Blank unless you are an experienced user of the MacProject project management software.

Changes you can make to MacNail Construction Blank:

1. You can rearrange the order of work on the Schedule Chart by moving boxes, and by deleting or adding dependency lines.
NOTE: We have set many items in sequence in the MacNail Construction Blank-- even though they more properly should be in parallel. Our experience has been that this gives more accurate schedules, and prevents excessive cycles in the resource leveling process.
2. You can change crew composition with the Show Task Info command.
3. You can change the display of items in the Schedule Chart. We display earliest start, slack days, and subtitle in the original MacNail Construction Blank. Use the Show Attributes command to change it to something else.
4. You can add or change lag times between items, by using the Lag Time command in the MacProject scheduling software.
5. You can change the project calendar with the Show Calendar Info command.
