NOTE-- In
2000 we replaced MacNail with Goldenseal construction
estimating software. There are still die-hard MacNail users, so we
keep the manuals online for their use! Goldenseal is
an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract
writing features. It does not require Excel, and uses construction
calculators rather than Excel formulas. Specifications Formulas
When working on a custom estimator in the MacNail construction estimating software, you may
want to change which construction items are subcontracted and which items are done
by your own crews. To do so:
1. Scroll through the entire
Specifications list.
2. Check the location of the numbers in the price calculation columns (columns E, F and G).
* Labor and Materials items will have numbers in the first two columns.
* Subcontractor and Materials items will have numbers in the last two columns.
* Subcontracted items will have a number in the last column only.
3. To change any section, drag the mouse through all items you'd like to change, and choose *Labor and Materials, *Sub
and Materials, or *Subcontracted from the FORMULA menu.
You can also change which subcontractor wage rate is used for any
item. To do so:
1. Click in the Labor or Subcontractor cell (whichever one contains a number).
2. Look at the Formula bar (just below the menu bar). You should see a formula something
like =(H1351*carpwage+I1351*laborwage)*D1351.
3. Double-click on the wage rate you would like to change (in this case, either the word
carpwage or the word laborwage).
4. Type in a new wage rate name (for example, masonwage). You can check the Fixed Cost area
to see a list of available names.
5. Type the RETURN or ENTER key.
