Removing Items from an Estimate

NOTE-- We retired MacNail estimating in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction bidding software. There are still die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for their use! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing features. It has estimating line items similar to those in MacNail. Goldenseal also handles Allowances (including project billing for the allowance items, which is not a part of MacNail).

Remove from Bid

Choose *Remove from Bid to remove an item from the bid in the MacNail construction bidding software. This menu command only works in the Specifications list.

To use this command on more than one row at a time: drag the mouse through as many rows as you would like to remove, then choose this command.

Headings and rows with a calculated quantity in 'units used', will be skipped.

HINT: To remove an item from the bid without the Estimating Manager you can type a 0 (zero) into the units used column.

Command key shortcut: Option-Command-R.

Flag as an allowance

Choose *Flag as an Allowance to mark an item for later extraction onto an Allowance list. This menu command only works in the Specifications list in the MacNail construction estimating software.

The item will be 'flagged' with the word Allowance, placed before the item name. For example, 'quarry tile ' will be changed to 'Allowance: quarry tile'.

If the item already contains the word 'allowance', choosing this command will remove the word 'allowance' and de-flag the item (see also page 103).
