Adding & Deleting Estimate Rows

NOTE-- We retired MacNail estimating in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for their use! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing features. It also has commands to add and delete line items from an Estimate.

Add Rows

Choose *Add Rows to add a row or rows to an estimate in the MacNail construction estimating software. The number of rows to be added will be determined by the number of rows you have selected (highlighted). It doesn't matter if you have selected just parts of a row --whole rows will be added.

If you insert rows within the Specifications list, you will be prevented from adding rows in locations that would damage the formula structure. The new rows will be also given the formulas that compute construction prices, and new code numbers.

This command also works on non-MacNail worksheets.

WARNING: Always use *Add Rows to add space to MacNail worksheets. Do not use the Excel Insert command.

The worksheet will be damaged if you insert cells, rather than whole rows.

Command key shortcut: Option-Command-A

Delete Rows

Choose *Delete Rows to remove a row or rows from a worksheet. All of the rows that are selected will be deleted, even if only part of each row is selected.

This command also works on non-MacNail worksheets.

If the document is protected, you will be prevented from deleting any rows except for items in the Specifications list.

WARNING: MacNail worksheets are highly structured, and you should delete rows only if you are sure of what you are doing.

WARNING: You cannot Undo the *Delete Rows command if you are working on a protected worksheet. Make very sure of what you are deleting before you click OK.

Command key shortcut: Option-Command-D.
