Estimate Troubleshooting

NOTE-- Goldenseal construction estimating software replaced MacNail back in 2000. There are still quite a few MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for their use! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, job costing and project management features. It does not require the Excel spreadsheet program, and runs much more reliably than MacNail.

Out of Memory.

You will need to close some documents or otherwise free up additional memory, so the MacNail construction estimating software can open a file and continue. See page 176 in the printed Estimating manual.

Rename the estimating macro as Estimating Manager 3.1

You must not change the name of Estimating Manager. Some of the menu commands need to be able to recognize it by its name.

Scroll Bar is Stuck at the Bottom

A bug in Excel 1.5 sometimes positions the vertical scroll bar at the bottom of the window while the worksheet is in the middle. To fix it: re-size the window using the size box at the bottom right (see page 170).

Select a non-title row -or-Sorry, a row can't be added/deleted here!

If your selection contains an item that is bold in column A, *Delete Rows and *Add Rows will not work. Choose Style from the FORMAT menu to change the bolding of the cell. Title rows (in bold) should never be deleted--it will throw off the formulas in Clearinghouse and Summation.

Choose Checkup Folders from the SPECIAL menu from the MacNail manager to find the bad folders.
