Estimate Summation

NOTE-- In 2000 we retired MacNail and BidMagic (our previous estimating programs), and introduced Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still die-hard MacNail users out there, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, job costing and project management features. To see its equivalent to the MacNail Summation, either use a printed form that has a subcategory breakdown, or look at an estimating report that shows subcategories.

Summation

The Summation is a one-page report of construction costs for a project. It shows labor, material and subcontractor costs for each construction category. It also lists 'soft costs' such as overhead, contingencies, profit, and finance charges.

Use the Summation level for:
* Viewing and printing the 'bottom line' when the bid is complete.
* Watching the bid total change while you change specifications or dimensions.
* The raw data for most reports.

To go to the Summation level:
1. Choose *Summation from the MACNAIL menu.
2. This moves you to the top of the worksheet in the MacNail construction estimating software.
