NOTE-- In 2000 we retired MacNail and BidMagic (our earlier estimating programs), and replaced them with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still die-hard MacNail users, for whom we keep the manuals online. Goldenseal also includes accounting, job costing and project management. Our newer software program also provides many different ways to print and view an estimate.

Output

A number of printing options are available to you under the DATA and FILE menus. You can create:
* A condensed estimate that takes up much less space than the original estimate.
* A quick summary--it is similar to the Summation, but it can have overhead and profit distributed between all categories (instead of being itemized), and it can also have unused categories removed from the display.
* Pie or bar charts that show you the project costs graphically.
* Extractions of just those items actually included in the job just those items that are 'flagged' as allowances or just those items that match criteria that you select.
* A large or small section of the estimate itself.

To generate any of these reports in the MacNail construction estimating software:
1. Choose *Set MacNail Options from the OPTIONS menu.
2. Turn the check boxes on or off to determine the way you would like the report displayed (see page 136).
3. Click OK.
4. Choose the desired report from the DATA menu.
5. A new file will be created and displayed on the screen.
6. To return to the Estimate: choose *Show Estimate from the FORMULA menu.
7. If you would like to work with the report later, look for it in the Current reports folder.

To print a whole section of the estimate:
1. Choose *Print Estimate from the bottom of the FILE menu.
2. Click the button next to the part of the estimate you'd like to print.
3. Click OK.

To print a small section of the estimate:
1. Use the mouse to drag through (select) the area you would like to print.
2. Choose *Print Selection from the FILE menu.
