Estimate Pie Charts

NOTE-- We retired MacNail estimating in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for their use! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing features. Goldenseal does not have built-in charting, but you can export estimate data to Excel, and then make a pie chart there.

Pie Chart

Choose *Pie Chart to see a graph that shows how project costs are broken down for a construction estimate created by the MacNail estimating software. Re-size the pie chart, or change the way it looks by using Excel's Chart features (to change the window size see page 170).

Format the pie chart display by choosing *MacNail Options from the OPTIONS menu (see page 136).

For best results:
* Turn on 'Remove Blank Lines'.
* Turn off 'Display Overhead/Profit'.
* Turn off 'Show Category Names'.

NOTE: Not every category name will show if the bar chart is too crowded.

The pie chart will be 'linked' to an intermediate file.
For example:
* If the the chart source is the McDermott Estimate.
* The intermediate file will be named McDermott Chart Report.
* The chart will be named McDermott Pie Chart.

Find chart documents in the Current reports folder.
