Including in an Estimate

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing features. In Goldenseal, you can use the padlock controls in each estimate line item, to determine whether it is included in the project or not.

Include in Bid

Choose Include in Bid to automatically include the 'suggested' quantity of a Specifications line item in an Estimate or Estimator in the MacNail construction estimating software. A formula will be added to the 'units used' column in each selected row, making it equal to the 'suggested' column.

NOTE: This command works only in the Specifications section of an Estimate or Estimator.
If you use this command on an estimate, the selected items will be included in the bid for just that project. If you use this command on an estimator, the selected items will be included in all future estimates made from that estimator.

NOTE: If the suggested number is zero in an estimator, Include in Bid will have no visible affect. However, once you enter numbers in Dimensions, the suggested quantity will automatically be included for that item.

To include items in a bid:
1. Drag the mouse through any cells in the Specifications rows you'd like to include in the bid.
2. Choose Include in Bid from the Edit menu.

Remove from Bid

Choose Remove from Bid to erase the effect of the Include in Bid command. This command puts a zero into the 'units used ' column for all selected rows, so the item will not be automatically included in the project estimate.

If you use Remove from Bid on an estimator, the selected items will not be included in estimates made from that estimator. However, later on you will still be able to use the Include in Bid command to include that item in a particular project estimate, if you need to.
