NOTE-- We
retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced
it with Goldenseal construction estimating
software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail
users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal
is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract
writing
features. Find Criteria in Estimating Records
To use the Criteria section in the MacNail construction
management software:
1. Scroll down to the very
bottom of the worksheet, until you come to the Criteria section. The Criteria section has two rows
of titles identical to the top row of the worksheet, with a blank row between them. If there
are already criteria between the two sets of headings, use the Backspace or Delete key to
clear those cells, so they are entirely blank.
2. Type the desired criteria into the blank line of the Criteria section. For example, to find
the item (or items) with code number 1200, type 1200 into the blank row under the code column.
NOTE: You can also type in a complex criteria by typing text into more than one criteria cell.
3. To jump to the item matching the current criteria, choose Find from the Data menu. If there is any item
in the worksheet that matches the criteria, you'll jump to it directly.
NOTE: The Find command in the Formula menu serves a different function!
4. Notice that the 'thumbs' in the scroll bars now have stripes. If you scroll up or down, you'll
jump to each of those items that match the current criteria.
5. To return to normal scrolling mode, choose Exit Find from the Data menu.
6. If you'd like to get a list of all items matching the current criteria, choose Extract Special from
the Data menu. All matching items will be extracted, and listed on a separate file.
