Estimating Price Master Structure |
NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing. It updates the price of assemblies automatically, whenever material prices change.
Structure of a Price Master The flag column (col. A) is used to mark off items that deserve special attention in the MacNail construction management software. When you move new items to the Price Master, they will be flagged with the word 'new'. If you change items in a Price Master with the Move Prices command, they'll be flagged as 'changed'. If a duplicate item is found when moving prices from an estimating worksheet, the flag column will contain 'dupe' plus the original item code number. You can also type in your own text to 'flag' some items. See pages 213-214 for more on the use of flags. The item name column (col. B) has a simple text description of the line item. This same description will be used in Specifications to identify each line item. NOTE: To read the entire contents of a line, click in its cell and read the contents in the formula bar. If you have enough room on your screen, you can also widen the column so you can see more of it. The code column (col. C) stores a unique number for each line item. This code is used to identify the item when prices are moved in or out of the Price Master. The same item code is also used in the MacNail estimating software and MacNail Scheduling. |
