Material Price Comparison Sheets

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing.

Compared Material Prices for Estimates

The MacNail Comparisons sheet allows you to compare material prices between different suppliers. It uses the different prices to calculate a 'net' price, based on one of several calculation methods.

To open a Comparisons worksheet, choose Price Comparisons from the MacNail (McN) menu. You can also choose Open File from the File menu, then click on Price Comparisons.

The material item column (col. A) is a short text code for each material item. It must be identical to one of the material codes in the corresponding Price Sheet included in the MacNail construction management software.

The net price column (col. B) shows the calculated item cost, which can be based on the minimum of up to three different suppliers, the average between them, or half way between the minimum and the average.

WARNING: This price is calculated for you-- if the worksheet is not protected, do not type anything into this cell!
