Plywood & Sheathing Thickness

How does Goldenseal use plywood and sheathing thickness, to adjust framing costs?

Goldenseal construction estimating software includes two types of Assemblies to calculate the cost of sheathing and subflooring:

  1. Some are general items that adjust their costs, depending on the measurements from Estimate Dimensions.
  2. Some are specific items that apply to just one thickness of sheathing or subflooring.

General Sheathing & Subflooring Assemblies

Assemblies such as plywood wall sheathing can apply to a range of sheathing thicknesses. They use Labor Adjusters and Material Adjusters to calculate the net cost for the project, using the dimensions you entered into the Structural Dimensions screen.

To enter framing dimensions for a project, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Estimates from the Income menu.
  2. Locate the estimate you'd like to work on.
  3. Choose Estimate Dimensions from the Options menu, and choose Structural from the submenu. HINT-- You can also click on the Structural button, in the middle of the Estimate window.
  4. Enter framing measurements for the project.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Update Quantities. Goldenseal will automatically recalculate the prices for framing Assemblies.

Specific Sheathing & Subflooring Assemblies

Assemblies such as 3/8 cdx plywood wall sheathing are calculated for a specific plywood thickness. They do not use dimension adjustments, and are not affected by changes in the project's measurements in Structural Dimensions.

Use specific framing assemblies if the project has more than one thickness of sheathing or subfloor.

HINT-- You can use a general framing assembly for the main part of the project, and then add extra line items for any framing details that are different than "standard".
