Account Names & Account Numbers |
Goldenseal small business accounting software includes two different names for most types of accounts:
If you prefer to use account numbers for your data entry, you can incorporate the numbers into the account name. Entering Full Names In the full name field, enter the complete business name as you'd like it to appear on printed checks and business forms-- for example, Bartholomew Simpson & Associates, Inc. Entering Account Names For the account name, you can use a shorter text description-- for example, use Bart Simpson as an account name. Goldenseal's clairvoyant fields will fill in the complete account name as soon as you've typed the first few letters of the name. Using Account Numbers If you already have a system of customer account numbers, and prefer entering a number instead of a name, put the account number into the account name field. We suggest that you follow the number with the actual account name, so it's easier to catch data entry mistakes-- for example, 35058 Bart Simpson. HINT-- Bank accounts and vendor accounts also have a separate field where you can put your account number. If you want to see the account numbers but want to type text instead of numbers, put the account number after the name-- for example, Bart Simpson 35058. If there are some accounts that you enter frequently, you can also use a brief letter code at the beginning of the name to make data entry faster-- for example, BS Bart Simpson. That way you'll only have to type the first two letters, even if you have many other accounts with people named Bart (or Bort). Click here to return to Accounting Software topics.
