Siding Area Estimates

Problem

siding area seems to be too high or too low

Diagnosis

check 'height diff, top floor ceiling to eaves' on exterior dimensions. It should nearly always be zero or negative.

Solution

Will need to walk thru logic if not the above. Gross siding area is = exterior wall area (length of each floor's exterior wall * ceiling height) + band joist area (length of each floor's exterior wall * floor thickness) + gable wall area + dormer wall area + parapet area (parapet length * height)

Comments

HINT-- BidMagic construction estimating software is logical about siding area for most projects, but there are a lot of pieces that go into the calculation so it can be hard to track down.

NOTE-- We retired BidMagic estimating software back in 2002, and replaced with Goldenseal-- which is integrated estimating software and project management software (plus optional accounting software).
