Problem
pop-up menu not showing in material mgr, when they hit the pop-up button for an assembly
Diagnosis
they click on a pop-up button, but nothing happens
Check the list of materials for that item. The one caller
who reported this problem had a blank item in
the list of materials. Apparently deleting it
fixed this problem in BidMagic Construction Estimating
Software.
Solution
Check the parent list of names, and make sure no blanks?
If that doesn't work, try one of the following:
1. do they have a recent backup? Could just go to that.
2. try exporting mat'l prices (BMT manual p 56) and then import, using the 'replace price book' option
(BMT manual 60-61). Have them make a backup BEFORE doing this!
3. if #2 doesn't work, re-install a clean copy of BM, and import into that. They'd also need to export/import unit
prices and assemblies, to get all info from to the other.
4. If #3 doesn't work (the exp/import cleans up a lot of problems, but may miss some) they may need
to open exported data files in a spreadsheet and look for extra lines, non-print characters, or other data problems. Comments
Root of problem- Toolbook and Hypercard are not true database programs, they just store text. We
try to be very careful but it appears sometimes data gets shifted by non-print characters, extra lines or
whatever. Then the program has trouble reading it.
