Installing BidMagic Estimating Software

Problem

problems with a copy of installer disks for BidMagic Construction Estimating Software for Macintosh
can't install from a copy of installer disk-- ejects disk 2

Diagnosis

they've made a copy of floppies, can't install from it-- rejects/ejects 2nd disk
problem is that the disk is not named correctly, or else has the wrong contents. This only shows up on disk 2 since that needs to be checked by the installer.

Solution

Make an exact copy of the original floppy for BidMagic estimating software.
1. the name of the floppy disk should be identical (e.g. BidMagic Disk 2)
2. the contents of the floppy disk should be identical. A common problem is that they drag the one floppy icon onto the other, which puts the floppy contents inside a folder on the floppy. The installer doesn't like that. They need to open the original disk, select its contents (choose Select All from Edit menu), and drag them onto the other floppy icon.

Comments

HINT: If they have MacTools or a shareware disk copying program (e.g. DiskCopy), they can use that to make an exact copy of the floppy. Easier than doing it in the Macintosh Finder.

NOTE-- We retired BidMagic estimating software back in 2002, and replaced with Goldenseal-- which is integrated estimating software and project management software (plus optional accounting software).
