Windows Associations

Problem

Creating an association for BidMagic construction software for Windows
Associating a file suffix with an application

Diagnosis

User manually installed BM, now Windows says "File has no association" or something similar when they double click template icon.
User wants to launch a particular app when they double click a type of file in the File Manager.

Solution

- Switch to the File Manager
- Choose Associate from the File menu
- Type the three letter extension (e.g. BID) into the 'Files with extension'
field (No period)
- Hit Browse, find the executable (e.g. BIDMAGIC.EXE) and choose OK
- The path for the application should now be in the 'Associate With' field
- hit OK

Comments

There may be another way to do this the Win95 way, but the File Manager method works just fine for any version of Windows.
