HyperEstimator Missing Fonts

Problem

on HyperCard startup user gets message saying "You must have the following fonts installed: Palatino, Helvetica", etc.

Diagnosis

This is not a problem, things will work just fine whether they have those fonts or not, because He/HR and BidMagic construction estimating software use standard Chicago and Geneva fonts.

Solution

1. The dialog will go away if they install the appropriate fonts. Who knows, the fonts might come in handy (e.g. when they write that letter of complaint.)
2. They can comment out the appropriate line in their home stack. To walk them through this you need to know HyperTalk; pass it along if you don't.
3. We can send them a new home stack.
4. They can ignore the dialog- won't make any difference, although it's irritating.

Comments

The reason it happens is that the home stack we send out USED to have a line in the stack script which checked for certain fonts- it was copied from Claris or wherever we got the original home stack. However it should not happen with any home stacks shipped after summer '92. If it does, the disks were mastered incorrectly and will have to be done again (my fault).

NOTE-- We retired BidMagic estimating software back in 2002, and replaced with Goldenseal-- which is integrated estimating software and project management software (plus optional accounting software).
