Estimating Special Systems

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

The BidMagic construction estimating software includes unit costs for special systems like intercoms, signage and bath accessories.

Special Systems Estimating

The Special Systems category covers several specialty items that don't fit conveniently elsewhere. To get to the Special Systems card, click on the Specialty Work button in the Specs Directory, then choose Special Systems from the pop-up menu.

Special System Subcategories

BidMagic estimating software breaks the Special Systems category into several cost subcategories:

Intercom & Security covers intercoms, alarms, motion detectors, security systems, and other similar items.
Mailboxes includes single or multiple mailboxes, interior and exterior.

Fire Equipment handles fire extinguishers and similar specialty fire prevention equipment, usually in commercial projects.

NOTE: Smoke detectors are in their own category on the Finish Electrical card.

Signs & Graphics includes items normally found in commercial projects. It can also include the cost of installing your own project publicity sign.

Bath Accessories covers towel bars, toilet paper dispensers, grab bars and other bathroom accessories.

Other Special Systems handles any other specialty items that don't fit into one of the other subcategories on this card.
