Estimating Siding

The BidMagic siding estimating software includes unit costs for siding and stucco. It's useful for estimating costs in large construction projects, or for pure siding estimates for siding contractors.

Siding Estimates

The Siding category includes shingles, siding boards, stucco, or other exterior wall finishes. To get to the Siding card, click on the Exterior Trim & Siding button on the Specs Directory, then choose Siding from the pop-up menu.

NOTE: If you subcontract siding for a flat fee, you can enter the actual bid directly instead of itemizing costs (see page 255).

Siding Cost Subcategories

BidMagic siding estimating software divides the Siding cost category into several subcategories:

Siding Materials includes siding, shingles, stucco, or other exterior wall treatments. For a log house or a bare masonry structure, you won't have any siding materials included. BidMagic tracks the total amount of siding entered into this card and shows the amount still unallocated, at lower right.

Weatherproofing includes felt paper, 'building wraps' such as Tyvek, and exterior wall flashings.

Other Siding gives you a place for any other siding items that don't fall under one of the other subcategories.

Siding Area

The Siding card automatically tracks the amount of 'unallocated' siding. It takes the overall siding area from the Finish Dimensions card, and subtracts the total amounts from the Siding Materials subcategory from it. This unallocated number is displayed at lower right--it will help you make sure you don't accidentally forget any siding!

NOTE: Unallocated siding subtracts a square yard (9 square feet) for any line item with a 'y' in its unit size. It subtracts one square foot for any other line items.
