Estimating Roofing

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic roofing estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

The BidMagic construction estimating software includes unit costs for roofing estimates.

Roofing Estimating

The Roofing card covers the cost of all kinds of roof materials.

NOTE: If you subcontract roofing for a flat fee, you can enter the actual bid directly instead of itemizing costs (see page 255).

Roofing Material handles the actual roofing material itself that you install to waterproof the roof.

HINT: To have line items start out with an unlocked field, hold down the Option key when you click on the pop-up button. It will save you from having to unlock the padlock for each item!

Roof Flashing covers valley and vent flashing, drip edge, and other peripheral roofing components.

Gutters & Downspouts include wood, aluminum, galvanized and plastic gutters, downspouts and fittings.

Skylights covers skylights and flashings. BidMagic keeps track of the number of skylights included in the project, so you don't accidentally forget any.

Other Roofing includes roof repairs and other miscellaneous roofing components.

Skylight Count

The Roofing card automatically tracks the number of 'unallocated' skylights. It takes the number of skylights entered into the Miscellaneous Dimensions card, and subtracts the number of items from the Skylights subcategory from it. This unallocated number is displayed at lower right--it will help you make sure you don't accidentally forget any skylights!
