Estimating Plumbing Rough-in

The BidMagic construction estimating software includes unit costs for plumbing rough-in.

Rough Plumbing Estimating

The Rough Plumbing cost categaory includes supply, vent and drain lines that are installed during the rough-in phase. Fixtures and other finish plumbing are covered on a separate card further on.

To get to this card, click the Rough Utilities button in the Specs Directory, then choose Rough Plumbing from the pop-up menu.

NOTE: BidMagic comes with 'ballpark' unit prices in this category, designed for rough estimating only. If you do your own plumbing work, you'll probably want to add more detailed choices to this category.

Plumbing Cost Subcategories

Plumbing Utilities includes sewer and drain hookups, water and sewage pumps, and other basic utility services.

NOTE: Hookup/inspection fees can go here, or they can be included under Permits & Fees in General Conditions, depending on who is paying for the permit. Storm drains and other project utilities can go here, or under Project Utilities in Site Work, depending on who is doing the work.

Plumbing Lines includes water supply, gas supply, sewage, vent and drainage lines. BidMagic includes unit prices with an 'average' number of fittings, for rough estimating purposes.

Floor Drain & Sump includes drain lines and sump pumps. You can also include these items under Drainage in the Excavation category, depending on who is doing the work.

Sprinklers & Irrigation covers fire sprinklers inside the building, and irrigation lines outdoors.

NOTE: If your landscaper installs the irrigation system, include it under Other Landscaping instead of here.
