Estimating Electrical Rough-in

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

The BidMagic electrical estimating software includes unit costs for electrical rough-in.

Rough Electrical Estimating

The Rough Electrical cost category includes circuit boxes, wiring and other electrical items that are installed during the rough-in phase. Fixtures and other finish electrical work are covered on a separate card further on.

To get to the Rough Electrical card, click on the Rough Utilities button on the Specs Directory, then choose Rough Electrical from the pop-up menu.

NOTE: BidMagic comes with 'ballpark' unit prices in this category, designed for rough estimating only. If you do your own electrical work, you'll probably want to add more detailed choices to this category.

Electrical Utility Hookups includes above-ground or underground power lines, and other basic utility service items. You can can include the cost of Electrical hookup or inspection fees here, or under Permits and Fees in General Conditions, depending on who pays for them.

Service Boxes includes circuit boxes, circuit breakers, and any basic wiring within the building.

Switches & Outlets handles electrical switches and outlets, including a box and an 'average' amount of wiring and wire nuts for each item.
